An exchange of medical tests and the diagnosis of a terminal disease. This is the story of ‘A Life Worth Living’, the telenovela that Globo presents on the international catalog during the 2020 NATPE in Miami. The telenovela is a modern fairytale that conquered the audience with its exciting, light, funny and unpretentious story. The broadcasting success on the access prime time in Brazil reaches in average 36 million people daily.
The telenovela has on the cast Grazi Massafera – International Emmy nominee for her performance in ‘Hidden Truths’ – playing the role of the protagonist Paloma, a dreamy seamstress and mother of three children who is diagnosed with a terminal disease. When she receives this diagnosis, with the perspective of imminent death, she decides to do everything she has always wanted, but never had the courage to do, like contacting her love from the past and having an affair with a stranger. When she finds out her test was exchanged with Alberto’s (Antonio Fagundes, ‘Gabriela’ and ‘Terra Nostra’), she feels relieved that she still has a whole life ahead of her, but she wants to get to know the person who really had the terrible diagnosis. A great friendship starts between them, full of exchanges of experience and lessons that enrich the lives of both of them. Paloma is then hired to be Alberto’s caregiver and finds out his son Marcos (Rômulo Estrela, ‘God Save the King’), the stranger with whom she had an affair, is in love with her. But, at the same time, Paloma has to deal with the return of Ramon (David Junior, ‘Crashing Into the Future’), her first and great love from the past.
Written by Rosane Svartman and Paulo Halm, with artistic direction by Luiz Henrique Rios – the same team who signed Globo’s other success ‘Total Dreamer’, licensed to over 100 countries – ‘A Life Worth Living’ reinforces the idea of appreciating life and flirts with literature, bringing literary classics that enhance the relationship between the dreamer Paloma and the cultured Alberto, who is also the owner of a publishing house.
Besides ‘A Life Worth Living’, other titles of long and short dramaturgy are part of the catalog that Globo presents at the 2020 NAPTE. The trailers and episodes of products contained in the international catalog can be accessed at www.globo.com/screening.
