Globo marks its presence in the 2022 edition of the Berlinale Series Market, a program dedicated to the audiovisual industry in one of the largest festivals in the world. The only Brazilian highlight selected by the festival was the production “A Woman’s Fate”, Original Globoplay series that tells the story of how three women in different circumstances lead their lives, facing challenges and reinventing themselves, with Giovanna Antonelli (The Clone), Vanessa Giácomo (Trail of Lies) and Renata Sorrah (Her Own Destiny) in the cast. “A Woman’s Fate” will have an online screening for buyers and professionals of the entertainment industry at the Berlinale Series Market, in a date soon to be informed by the festival.
Written by Martha Mendonça, Nelito Fernandes, Jo Abdu and Adriana Falcão, with artistic direction by Leonardo Nogueira, the series tells the trajectory of Stella, Lívia and Cléo who are ‘stuck in different situations and who are facing decisive stages of their lives. During her 50th wedding anniversary, Stella decides to get divorced. Her decision affects the life of everyone around her, especially of her daughter Lívia and of (so far) stranger Cléo. As of that moment, the three women pass to have their lives connected and, in an attempt to create new paths, they will help each other build, voluntarily or not, a new version of themselves.
“This is a story of the breaking of patterns of each one of the characters, of the pursuit of happiness, of freedom, and especially of solidarity between women. Little by little they begin to understand each other and understand they need to help one another, despite the fact they have differences”, details the writer, Martha Mendonça.
Angela Colla, Head of International Sales at Globo, highlights the screening of “A Woman’s Fate”, the only Brazilian production to be screened this year, as an acknowledgement of the quality and comprehension of Globo’s products for several audience demographics. “Our content strategy is consumer oriented, so, we can reinforce our ability to diversify the themes approached, from lighter stories to productions with more contemporary themes, for engaging several different audience profiles. “A Woman’s Fate” addresses a global agenda, we are very happy it was selected”, she explains.
The date and time of the online screening of the first two episodes of “A Woman’s Fate” will be soon informed by the organization of the Berlinale Series Market. The event will count on productions from four continents, such as Brazil, South Africa, Israel, Russia and Germany.
