The company will also take to the market the feature films ‘Rend your Heart’ and ‘Intimate Strangers’
The limited series ‘Harassment’ - an original Globo production exclusively for Globoplay, the streaming platform from Globo Group - will be screened at Berlinale, one of the most prestigious film and audiovisual production festivals in the world, which takes place between February 7th and 17th in Berlin, Germany. The series was selected for the Drama Series Days Market Screenings, which presents new contents for programmers from different platforms from all over the world. ‘Harassment’ will be exhibited on February 12th, at 11:00, at the Zoo Palast - Clubkino A. The limited series, the only Brazilian title in this event, will join productions from Sweden, Spain, Israel, Argentina, United Kingdom, among other countries. Globo will also be present in the European Film Market with two feature films.
“Being at Berlinale, a respected festival with global projection, is an inspiring immersion in the audiovisual industry, as well as an important point of contact for new business. It is a space for exchanging experiences, seeing up-close new things being done on the market, and showing our production of content in multiple formats,” says Raphael Correa Netto, Head of International Business of Globo.
The industry's first limited series on the subject after the #metoo movements, ‘Harassment’ is a sensitive and assertive approach to this current theme, reinforcing Globo’s commitment in discussing issues of social relevance, such as abuse and violence against women. The strength of this series was experienced since it was exhibited for the first time to the international market. During the last MIPCOM, the limited series was chosen by Virginia Mouseler, executive from The Wit, for its prestigious panels where news and trends in the audiovisual and entertainment, as well as the best works she saw at the fair, are presented. Recently, the series has been licensed to the Mega Group, from Chile.
‘Harassment’ is a work of fiction freely inspired by the book “A Clínica: A Farsa e os Crimes de Roger Abdelmassih” (The Clinic: The Farce and Crimes from Roger Abdelmassih) by Vicente Vilardaga, and tells the story of a group of women who gather to denounce a series of sexual abuse committed by a successful and respected doctor. The limited series is authored by Maria Camargo (‘The Brothers’), written with Bianca Ramoneda, Fernando Rebello and Pedro de Barros. It has artistic direction by Amora Mautner (‘Precious Pearl’ and ‘Brazil Avenue’), general direction by Joana Jabace, and is directed by Guto Arruda Botelho.
Globo also will take to the European Film Market its catalog of long-feature films, with highlight to ‘Rend your Heart’, an adaptation of the homonymous play by Oduvaldo Vianna Filho. The movie sheds a light on 40 years of the Brazilian political life through the relationship between father and son. It will also take ‘Intimate Strangers’, a movie that addresses the theme of loneliness through a love story.
