Globo reunites industry international players in Los Angeles and presents what is new in its portfolio
Globo reunites this Wednesday (15), in Los Angeles, partners, journalists and executives of the industry to present its new releases to the Market, including series ‘First-Time Parents’ and ‘It’s a Match’ – original Globo production exclusive, in Brazil, for the OTT platform Globoplay. The telenovela ‘Orphans of the Land’ (working title), recently aired in Brazil with great audience success, was also presented over the meeting.
The event, which happened at the LA Screenings 2019, followed the concept ‘Let’s move together’, launched by the company during the NATPE Miami last January. “This concept says a lot about our attitude before the entertainment industry. We have a brand new world of opportunities ahead of us and there is room to build many things together. Our view is oriented to know more and more about the behavior of consumers and their markets”, says Raphael Corrêa Netto, Globo’s Head of International Business.
The increase of Globo Studios production was also mentioned as well as the significant investment in technology, which makes it possible to produce series such as ‘Iron Island’, another original Globo production exclusive for Globoplay, which is already in its second season. “We count on a great capacity of production and increased the amount of content produced so that we are able to offer original projects to all Globo Group platforms in Brazil – OTT, free-to-air TV and pay TV. Nowadays there are more stories with potential for multiplatform”, added Corrêa Netto.
This growth in productivity comes from a movement in order to place the artistic development as top player on the creative process. One of such initiatives was the creation, two years ago, of the Writers’ House, an ambitious project that reunites writes in the same place, working simultaneously on the development of future screenplays. In 2018, 70 projects were made, 52 in fiction. That is how in 2019 Globo presented a varied catalogue to the international market with 25 new titles of different genres.
Next Friday (17), Globo is promoting one more meeting at LA Screenings, this time for producers, showrunners, writers and professionals of the American Market at Content LA, event produced by C21 media. Monica Albuquerque, Head of Development, and Silvio de Abreu, Head of Drama and Comedy, are presenting series and format trends which guide Globo production.
