Globo premieres during LA Screenings 2019 the fun comedy series ‘It’s a Match’, that portrays a couple navigating through the world of modern relationships, where everything is mediated by social media and applications. With so much information shared early on the Internet, expectations raised and constant doubting, the series approaches with lots of humor the small and big dilemmas of current relationships, and the survival of passion within this scenario.
‘It’s a Match’ tells the story of Rita (Tatá Werneck, ‘Trail of Lies’), a young lady who is not afraid to share her frustrations and anguishes and that is always searching for a boyfriend on a dating application; and the methodical Enzo (Eduardo Sterblitch, ‘The Party Crashers’). Even though they are constantly connected, the dating application did not match the couple. It was at a bar, using a very old-school approach, that they exchanged looks. Together, they will question the current limits of interaction by sharing childhood traumas, inconvenient friends and embarrassing situations, until they notice that true love is very different from what Internet shows.
A reverse romantic comedy, the series brings a sarcastic analysis of the social scenario created by algorithms. In 30 different locations, the shooting took place in the urban spaces of Rio de Janeiro, especially downtown Rio and the city subway.
‘It’s a Match’ is an original Globo series produced exclusively for Globoplay, the streaming platform of the Globo Group. The show is written by Alexandre Machado and Fernanda Young, with artistic and general direction by Patricia Pedrosa, and direction by Renata Porto d’Ave and Ricardo Spencer.
During LA Screenings 2019, Globo will be at Suite 621 – Intercontinental Hotel.
