The story about what people are capable of in extreme situations was successful in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru.
Limited series ‘Above Justice,’ nominated for the 2017 International Emmy Awards in two categories, has just been licensed for the RTV21 pay-TV channel in Kosovo. With its varied programming lineup, the channel is an important gateway for Globo’s productions in the country and has already aired major hits by the Brazilian company, such as the International Emmy Awards winners ‘Precious Pearl’ and ‘Side by Side’, as well as ‘Brazil Avenue’ and ‘Brave Woman’. Although the country’s release date has yet to be set, the limited series will air with voice over in Macedonian.
The limited series has an original and provocative narrative construction, as well as heavyweight actors such as Adriana Esteves and Cauã Reymond (both from ‘Brazil Avenue’). It recorded an average daily reach of about 41 million people and a total reach of 134 million people when it aired in Brazil. ‘Above Justice’ was also well received in Argentina and Chile, where it topped the ratings on Telefe and Mega, respectively. It was also successful on the Latina network in Peru.
The limited series starts with the arrest of four people from different backgrounds. Seven years later, they are released and seek ways to restart their lives. The plot goes back and forth in time, revealing new aspects of the characters and presenting the different points of view which led them to extreme and questionable actions when facing situations that pushed them to the limit. The plot is written by Manuela Dias (‘Dangerous Liaisons’), with artistic direction by José Luiz Villamarim (‘Brazil Avenue’).
’Above Justice’ is part of the new breed of series that Globo has been successfully launching at home and abroad. For the first time, the company will bring a catalog exclusively comprised of equally impressive series and limited series to MIPCancun 2018 this year, addressing topics that are relevant all over the world.
