Limited series ‘Harassment’ and series ‘Iron Island’ attracted the organizers’ attention.
Excerpts of Globo’s impressive shows ‘Harassment’ and ‘Iron Island’ were screened at the Fresh TV Fiction panel on Wednesday, October 17, during MIPCOM 2018. The panel is organized by Virginia Mouseler, CEO of The Wit – a major agency specialized in searching for TV shows throughout the world – and showcases trends and what’s new in audiovisual entertainment. A reference in the market, The Wit provides producers, networks, distributors and advertisers around the world with information on the best content, projects and programs for TV and digital platforms.
Globo’s productions were once again among those selected. The award-winning series ‘Under Pressure’ was chosen last year, which addresses the challenges faced by the medical staff of a hospital with few resources in Rio de Janeiro, who struggle to keep their patients alive. The medical drama, as well as ‘Harassment’ and ‘Iron Island’ are part of Globo’s new breed of series, which has conquered the global market.
‘Harassment’ is a fictional work freely inspired by the book “A Clínica: Os crimes e as farsas de Roger Abdelmassih” [The Clinic: The crimes and farces of Roger Abdelmassih], by Vicente Vilardaga, and portrays the strength of a group of women fighting for a common goal. With a world-class cast – Adriana Esteves (‘Brazil Avenue’ and ‘Above Justice’), Jéssica Ellen (‘Above Justice’), Paolla Oliveira (‘Edge of Desire’) and Antonio Calloni (‘Brave Woman’), among others – the limited series has just been made available in Brazil on Globoplay, Globo’s OTT platform. This simultaneous launch reaffirms the company’s investments in innovative multiplatform short formats, with content that keeps up with social changes and helps foster the discussion of topics relevant to audiences all over the world.
‘Harassment’ is a limited series written by Maria Camargo (‘The Brothers’) and co-authored by journalist Bianca Ramoneda, Fernando Rebello and Pedro de Barros, with artistic direction by Amora Mautner (‘Precious Pearl’ and ‘Brazil Avenue’).
‘Iron Island’ is a series that brings together action, drama, intensity and a lot of pressure. Unprecedented throughout the world, the plot tells the story of a group of oil workers that are torn between life on the mainland and their work on an oil platform. The series was entirely shot and finalized in 4K, with intensive visual effects and computer graphics work from the first to the last episode, including a 3D oil platform.
Starring Cauã Reymond (‘Brazil Avenue’, ‘Above Justice’ and ‘Doomed’), the cast features heavy-weight names, such as: Sophie Charlotte (‘The Party’ and ‘Dark Days’), Klebber Toledo (‘The Formula’) and Maria Casadevall (‘Trail of Lies’), among others.
‘Iron Island’ is written by Max Mallmann and Adriana Lunardi, with text supervision by Mauro Wilson, general and artistic direction by Afonso Poyart, and direction by Roberta Richard and Guga Sander.
Globo will be located at booth P0.A10 during MIPCOM 2018.
