‘Orphans of a Nation’ is finalist at Seoul International Drama Awards

The telenovela ‘Orphans of a Nation’, by Thelma Guedes and Duca Rachid, and artistic direction by Gustavo Fernández, is a finalist in the Serial Drama category at Seoul International Drama Awards. The award, which is in its 15th edition, elects the best international television productions in the categories Serial Drama, TV Movie, Mini-Series and Short Form. There’s also the Grand Prize which rewards the most outstanding work originality and popularity among all other categories. This year the award organization received more than two hundred registrants from over forty-one countries.
Competing with productions from Colombia, China, Philippines and Turkey, ‘Orphans of a Nation’ is Brazil’s only representative at the awards. The telenovela was shown in April last year, on TV Globo, and told the story of the impossible love of Jamil (Renato Góes) and Laila (Julia Dalávia), two Syrians who need to leave their homeland and leave for Brazil with the desire to rebuild their lives. In addition to bringing the refugee issue as a backdrop, the telenovela’s main messages are empathy, cultural diversity and overcoming in the name of love. In 2019, ‘Orphans of a Nation’ won the Rose D’Or Awards, in the Serial Drama category and was also licensed to more than fifty countries, including Mexico, Uruguay and Bolivia, where it is on the air.
This is the third time that Globo has been nominated for the Seoul International Drama Awards. In 2007, the telenovela ‘Little Missy’ was among the finalists for the Grand Prize, and in 2011 “Passione” was nominated in the Serial Drama category and received the Silver Bird Prize in the Serial Drama category.

‘Huérfanos de Su Tierra’ es finalista en Seoul International Drama Awards
La telenovela ‘Huérfanos de Su Tierra’, de Thelma Guedes y Duca Rachid, la dirección artística de Gustavo Fernández, es finalista en la categoría Serial Drama en Seoul International Drama Awards. El premio que se encuentra en su decimoquinta edición, elige las mejores producciones televisivas internacionales en las categorías Serial Drama, TV Movie, Mini-Series y Short Form. También está el Grand Prize, que premia el trabajo más destacado, la originalidad y la popularidad entre todas las demás categorías. Este año, la organización galardonada recibió más de doscientas participaciones de más de cuarenta y un países.
Compitiendo con producciones de Colombia, China, Filipinas y Turquía, ‘Huérfanos de Su Tierra’ es el único representante de Brasil en el premio. La telenovela se mostró en abril del año pasado, en TV Globo, y contó la historia del amor imposible de Jamil (Renato Góes) y Laila (Julia Dalávia), dos sirios que necesitan abandonar su tierra natal y partir a Brasil con el deseo de reconstruir sus vidas. Además de traer el tema de los refugiados como telón de fondo, los mensajes principales de la novela son empatía, diversidad cultural y superación en nombre del amor. En 2019, ‘Huérfanos de Su Tierra’ ganó el Rose D’Or Awards, en la categoría Serial Drama y también ha sido autorizado a más de cincuenta países, incluidos México, Uruguay y Bolivia, donde está en el aire.
Esta es la tercera vez que Globo ha sido nominado para el Seoul International Drama Awards. En 2007, la telenovela ‘Niña Moza’ estuvo entre los finalistas del Gran Premio, y en 2011, ‘Passione’ fue nominada en la categoría de Serial Drama y recibió el Silver Bird Prize, en la categoría Serial Drama.
