This Monday, October 15, The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 2018 International Emmy Kids Awards. Globo was nominated in two of the seven categories: ‘Young Hearts: Embrace Diversity’ – from Globo’s international catalogue 2018 — is a finalist in Series, while the second season of ‘The Voice Kids’ competes in the Non-Scripted Entertainmnet category. The winners will be announced on April 9, 2019, at a ceremony in Cannes, France.
Created by Cao Hamburger and directed by Paulo Silvestrini, ‘Young Hearts: Embrace Diversity’ celebrated diversity in São Paulo, revolving around the story of friendship among five girls, based on a unique and unforgettable experience. During a subway stoppage, Lica (Manoela Aliperti), Ellen (Heslaine Vieira), Tina (Ana Hikari), Benê (Daphne Bozaski) and Keyla (Gabriela Medvedovski) get stuck in the same car and, as if the natural tension of the situation wasn’t enough, Keyla goes into labor. With great courage and solidarity, the other girls come together to help her. The child’s birth marks the bond between the girls of distinct backgrounds, experiences and personalities: a rich alternative girl, a “brainiac” (hacker) from the city outskirts, a sensei rebel and artist, a shy and lonely girl that really wants to make friends, and a teenage mom. The plot follows the lives of these young girls, who will discover together how enriching living, confronting and celebrating their differences can be. ‘Young Hearts: Embrace Diversity’ has been nominated to the 2018 International Emmy Kids Awards alongside productions from Germany, Australia and Canada.
This is the fourth time ‘Young Hearts’ has been nominated for the Emmy Kids Awards. Last year, ‘Young Hearts – I Just Want to Love’ (by Emanuel Jacobina and with general direction by Leonardo Nogueira) was nominated in the Digital category. In 2016, ‘Young Hearts – Dreams’ (written by Rosane Svartman and Paulo Halm, with core direction by José Alvarenga Jr. and general direction by Luiz Henrique Rios) was nominated for the Emmy Kids in the Digital category, as well as in the Series category in the previous year.
‘The Voice Kids’ has been nominated for the Emmy Kids Awards in the Non-Scripted Entertainmnet for the second year in a row. The musical reality show has artistic direction by Creso Eduardo Macedo and general direction by Flavio Goldemberg, and was nominated alongside productions from China, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
In addition to the 2018 International Emmy Kids Awards, Globo has also been nominated for the 2018 International Emmy Awards in the TV Movies/Mini-Series category, with ‘Aldo – Mais Forte que o Mundo,’ which tells the story of José Aldo, one of the greatest fighters in Brazil. The Pay TV channel GNT, from Globosat, has two other nominees: ‘Palavras em Série’, in the Arts Programming category, directed by Alberto Renault, a co-production with Hungry Man, and the documentary series ‘Eu Sou Assim’, directed by Eduardo Vaisman and Calvito Leal, a co-production with TV Zero, in the Documentary category. The winners will be announced on November 19 at a ceremony in New York, U.S.
