Synopsis
The genius Jonas Marra (Murilo Benício, from Brazil Avenue) has attained what few others have — a rich and famous celebrity of the digital world in Silicon Valley and the owner of Marra International, a respected technology conglomerate. But behind his image of a successful businessman lies another person shrouded in conflict and mystery.
In California, Jonas marries the famous Pamela Parker (Cláudia Abreu), daughter of a Brazilian actress and an American tycoon, and has become the stepfather of the beautiful Megan (Isabelle Drummond), a spoiled willful young girl with a talent for trouble. Beautiful, rich and talented, Pamela and Jonas are America’s star couple.
Unexpectedly, Jonas Marra announces that he is going to move the company’s headquarters and his family to Brazil. There, he is going to choose his successor by holding a competition for young Brazilians.
On the list of candidates are the dedicated Davi Reis (Humberto Carrão) who runs a project teaching youth about technology, and Manuela (Chandelly Braz), a bold engineer and computer hacker. Both are tremendously excited about the opportunity of a lifetime: working at Marra Brasil, and who knows, maybe inheriting the technology genius’s position one day. The shot has been fired for what will be a very close race.
The world wonders: what could have driven this entrepreneur to make such a controversial and urgent decision? The answer lies in a secret guarded under lock and key that will cause surprising consequences for Jonas’s life.
What Jonas never imagines is that returning to his country will rekindle old conflicts, and unearth secrets and stories from his past, such as his difficult relationship with his mother, Gláucia Beatriz (Renata Sorrah), who only wants to reconnect with him to get at his money.
New feelings will also surface and shake him to the core. Jonas meets the reporter Verônica (Taís Araújo) who steals his heart. Verônica is a fighter whose dream is to become an investigative reporter. Their meeting arouses passion in them both, and they let love take its course.
Pamela is perplexed by her husband’s behavior, but is thrilled with the change, even though she also has her own secrets in Brazil. One of these secrets involves Herval Domingues (Ricardo Tozzi), the leader of an non-governmental organization which promotes technology in children’s lives, a philosophy which is completely contrary to Marra International’s. In addition to their professional differences, Herval becomes Jonas’s rival in another area as well — his relationship with his wife Pamela Parker, with whom Herval begins to have an affair.
The conflicts that the visionary Jonas must face eventually change the course of his business; on the other hand, they also present him with a new life.
Now Generation uses a setting focused on technology to develop a plot centered on romance, adventure and mystery. Images shot with cinematic cameras, scenes filmed in California and an internationally renowned cast add even more value to this production.
